The Kansu bowl massage is an Indian foot massage performed using a bowl called a “kansu,” made of five metals—the main one being copper—and “ghee,” Indian clarified butter. Ghee can be replaced with a warm Ayurvedic oil, such as sesame oil, or Pitta oil, which helps balance the fire element.
In many traditions, the feet are considered a reflection of the body: any action performed on them affects the entire body. Based on this idea, Indian tradition has developed a form of reflexology rooted in Ayurvedic knowledge.
The techniques involve applying firm and progressively more intense pressure to the skin, taking care to stimulate every part of the sole of the foot to promote the proper flow of vital energy throughout the body. This massage aims to treat not only the reflex points on the feet, but also the five elements (Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Ether), which, according to Ayurveda, are the fundamental components of the human being.
Highly recommended for balancing the Fire element, this massage provides deep relaxation for the entire body and helps regulate sleep. It fills you with gentle, soothing sensations, so much so that it is often recommended to help manage anxiety, nervousness, stress, and insomnia.
This massage is particularly suitable for people who are prone to stress, anxiety, or sleep disorders, or who are simply looking for deep, soothing relaxation.
